Insite Objects |
Insite Objects is a software development
company that created add-on modules for SAP. I was hired to coordinate
their marketing and advertising, support the sales staff, and create
graphics for their software. I was also responsible for creating
a new Website and help the company hone its public presence.
Without a doubt, the work I am most proud of is the creation of
the 3D illustrations I created for the ASUG 2003 trade show. The
image of a silver man with the company logo reflected on his skin
was absolutely stunning, especially at
4 feet tall. This was so impressive that the owner of the company
that printed the poster actually came by to meet me and we discussed
the possibility of me doing a similar image for his company... unfortunately,
nothing ever came of that discussion.
Tools: Photoshop, Macromedia Freehand, Adobe Illustrator,
Strata 3D, Poser, PowerPoint, PageMaker. |

Trade
Show Graphics
& Booth Design
I create the ring around the sphere, and the company logo,
from scratch in Strata 3D. The base human figure was setup
in Poser 5, then exported as a DXF into Lightwave where I
simplified the geometry. I then imported it into Strata 3D
where I textured and rendered the image. I then placed the
image into Photoshop where I created the background and added
the lens flare.
|
The final image
was about 4 feet tall, which allowed you to see how incredibly
detailed the reflections are. This is one of the few times
where I felt the final printed version actually looked better
than the version in my computer.

I took the ring from the first poster (which corresponds
to the markings on a clock) and crafted a second image
in Strata 3D to convey the message that Insite could
save you time and money. Again, the results were very
impressive, and the background unified the artwork so
that, in the trade show booth, they presented a unified
appearance.

Product
Sheets
Insite Objects has a large product range of software
tools under the name RESITE. These tools are targeted to different
users. Rather than confuse potential customers by showing
them one brochure with all our products, we decided to create
separate product sheets so the sales staff could customize
their sales pitches.
To this end, I created a unified look for the product sheets
which included screenshots from the software.
These product sheets are 8.5 x 11 inch sheets, front/back,
printed offset in CMYK.
PDFs were also released on the Website and distributed on
product CDs and sent via e-mail.
I created the background in Adobe Photoshop and composited
the final brochures in PageMaker.

Bi-Fold
Brochures
Similar in look to the product sheets, these brochures
were printed at 11 x 17 inches with full bleed.
At the printer's recommendation, all artwork was created
at 400 dpi.
Created in Photoshop, and Quark XPress with 3D elements (the
header fill and Insite Logo were created in Strata 3D).

Tri-Fold Brochure
The Silver Man image was so attractive on the trade
show graphics, we decided to use it for our new tri-fold brochure.
I had to rework the image a bit to make it work as a vertical,
but the results were very nice.

Post Card
Slightly reconfigured the trade show Silver Man image
for this tightly-cropped postcard. It was a very
effective image. The printers agreed with me that, in order
to capture the details of the text and reflections, that it
would work best at 600 dpi.

PowerPoint
Presentation
One of the first things I do for a company is, invariably,
create a custom PowerPoint background and clean up their existing
presentations.
Here are just a few slides of a sample presentation.
